5+ Baby registry must haves to make that first year easier.

Not sure what to put on your baby registry? It can be so overwhelming. Forget the fancy outfits and bows, you NEED these products. I wish I had heard about them sooner. These are some of my favorites from my experience with my two children. All links are through my amazon affiliation and I receive commission.

  1. This first one is my absolute must have. The owlet dream sock.
    • I was the mom that watched their baby breathe and didn’t sleep for days. I got so sick from exhaustion. The owlet dream sock saved me. It is FDA approved and monitors your baby’s heart rate and oxygen level as well as tracks their sleep. If you have a child with special needs or a health defect, the owlet sock can send reports to your pediatrician to monitor your child’s health for up to 5 years. Owlet also has a baby monitor you can bundle with the sock, but I didn’t use it personally.
  2. Sound machines are a life saver, quite literally. Sleep is essential to life.
    • My favorite part about the sound machine is that it covers up the sound of our AC turning on in the middle of the night. You are probably used to it at this point, but your newborn baby will scream when that noise comes out of nowhere. You will probably have to do trial and error on what sound your baby likes best – one of my girls likes thunderstorms and the other likes the box fan. You never know. I used both of these sound machines and loved them both, but they are two different price points. Hatch/Dreamegg
  3. Bath thermometers for EVERYONE. I have at least four.
    • I have two kids and I still don’t know what temperature to set the bath at, I rely completely on a bath thermometer. My kids also love playing with them in the bath. If a bath is even slightly too hot or too cold, babies scream. I recommend buying one of these for every house your child might bathe at – your parents house, best friends house, everywhere.
    • Seal / Rubber Ducky / Dinosaur / Stingray
  4. Bassinet….there are a million options.
    • My first kid, I got a standard bassinet as a hand me down gift. Don’t get me wrong, it was way better than spending money I didn’t have, but it wasn’t my favorite. My second time around, someone gifted me a bedside bassinet where the side comes down. This is amazing. The first few weeks postpartum are really hard on your abdomen, especially if you have a c section (I did not, but I know many people who have). Standard bassinets require you to pick the baby up and out of it, which takes a lot of core. This bassinet still requires some lift, but not nearly as much. I can also easily reach over and calm my baby. I love this bassinet and will buy it again if I have another.

The rest of this blog is dedicated to Frida mom and baby products. I truly love this brand.

  1. Frida baby…
    • The electric nose sucker works just as good as hospital grade suction. My kids stay sick and when they are congested, they don’t sleep. This clears up those airways so quick to give them (and you) at least a little bit of rest. Nose sucker (there is also a fantastic non electric version, some people hate it tho because you do the suction with your mouth. its really not that bad. manual nose sucker)
    • Newborns specifically get really hard, massive boogies. This nose picker (also an ear picker, nail picker) makes it so easy to get those stubborn ones. It has a safety stop on it so you can’t accidentally shove it too far up their nose. I love this thing. So satisfying, I might be a little obsessed.
    • Every baby will need a humidifier at some point – I like to keep one running at all times. It is particularly good for dry climates.
    • Mobile medicine cabinet – this is such a great way to keep organized and always be prepared if baby gets sick. I particularly love the pacifier medicine dropper!
  2. Alright momma, this is for you.
    • This is the only thing I took in my hospital bag for myself with my births. I love how quality these products are. I also got to give birth to both my children in the same hospital gown!
    • Are you planning to have a c-section? Frida mom also has a bag with more specific items for c-section recovery! Most of the same stuff with additional abdominal healing products. You can also purchase the regular hospital bag and buy the abdominal supports separately if you aren’t planning on a c-section, birth is unpredictable!

Have a product you don’t see but loved? Let me know in the comments!
